"There’s been so much change lately, it’s too much."
People come to therapy at all different points in their lives. You might be navigating anxiety, perfectionism, a relationship ending, or a life change that’s stretching you in ways you didn’t expect. Or maybe you want to know yourself better, to feel less reactive and more at ease.
You don’t need a diagnosis or a crisis to start therapy. Sometimes, you just need a welcoming and supportive space to explore what's going on for you.
"I don’t know where to go from here."
"Something needs to change."
"Maybe I should talk to someone."
"I feel stuck."
I founded Tate Psychotherapy in NYC to provide a safe landing spot for people to heal and get to know their true selves. Whether you’re here for therapy, clinical supervision, consultation or workplace wellness, my goal is the same: to help you create meaningful, sustainable change in how you relate to yourself, others, and the world around you.
In-depth and relational supervision and consultations for clinicians seeking to strengthen their practice, refine their therapeutic skills, or deepen their understanding of trauma, somatics and mental health conditions. Great for therapists who are interested in IFS, EMDR, psychodynamic psychotherapy or transference-focused psychotherapy.

My approach is warm, direct and collaborative. We’ll explore how your experiences and patterns live in both your mind and body, and how that shapes the way you move through the world.

Therapy That Supports the Whole You
This is a place where you can come just as you are. You can bring all of yourself here—your intellect and ambition, your fear and grief, your humor and hope. Every part of yourself is welcome here.
Therapy is not about becoming “better.”
It’s about becoming more you.
If you’re ready for a grounded, thoughtful space to do that work, I’d love to connect with you!
Licensed Psychotherapist | Clinical Supervisor | Keynote Speaker
Mary Tate, LCSW
Hi, I’m Mary, a therapist, educator and avid crafter based in NYC. I help people reconnect with themselves and cultivate the change they want to see in their lives. I support clients in deepening their self-compassion and awareness, reducing distress and navigating change with confidence. To me, therapy is a beautiful balance of science and human connection that paves the way for transformation.
As a speaker and educator, I believe that our mental health touches every aspect of our lives. Education that equips individuals and communities to care for themselves and one another helps end stigma and promotes holistic well-being.
